Welcome to Department of Economics

The Department of Economics, established in 1997, is one of the oldest departments of Nagar Parishad Shivaji Mahavidyalaya, Mowad. There are at present 120 per year sanctioned seats for this subject. There are one full time teachers in the department. The goal of the Department of Economics is to focus on the provision of a competitive curriculum with evolved methods of instruction consistent with the finest traditions of a arts education. The Dept. of Economics is committed to maximising the intellectual, social and economic potential of all the individuals and communities it serves through outstanding teaching, research and enterprise activity informed by fundamental principles of the Economics. The department maintained an excellent academic record and has produced a number of eminent alumni who now hold prominent positions in different sectors.

Under UGC XII plan , department has received the grants for conducting National Seminar. In the year 2015 department organised National Seminar on “Impact of New Education Policy on Common People in Global Scenario” on dated 30 October, 2015. Recently our student Ms. Divya Kherde  has received Late Suresh Shankarrao Ambhore Memorial Gold Medal of Rashtrasanr Tukadoji maharaj nagpur University, Nagpur in University’s Summer 2018 Examination.

Mission

Objectives

  • To equip the students with managerial and entrepreneurial skills for self- employment and also computer skills for enhancing their employability.

  • To develop attitude towards selfless services on national building activities.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will learn how markets organize core economic activities, such as production, distribution, and consumption, and the growth of productive resources.

  • Students will learn about the determinants of macroeconomic conditions like national output, employment, and inflation, causes of business cycles, and interactions of monetary and fiscal policy.

  • Students will learn to apply economic theories and methodologies in analyzing economic issues in various sub-fields of applied microeconomics and international economics.

  • Learn new theories about economic activities, create explanations for new economic phenomena and device innovative approaches to solve various economic problems.

  • Apply economic theory to evaluate everyday problems.
